I’ve recently been adapting vintage lenses to my Sony digital cameras.
It’s been an obsession. Old glass has character that most modern glass doesn’t compare to. Decades of use / non-use. Dust and degradation, aging and digital cameras have left these beauties behind.
It’s like working with a priceless instrument. Or as close to what I think it would be like. These lenses make me photograph differently - in a good way. There's a vibe. A feeling they impart. Hard to describe unless you've actually used one.
Manual focus only. No electronics between lens and camera. No image stabilization (unless it's in the camera). No aperture control from the camera.
But the moment you fire that baby up you know it's something special. These things are made for art!
